picture me {im}perfectly.this summer

now that the summer is nearly gone,
i am able to reflect on what went down
over the last few months.

we spent much of the summer
in a rush.
in a hurry.
scurrying from here to there
and from there to here.

so i’ve written a note to myself
for next summer
so that it doesn’t look at all
like the summer we’ve just had.

dear future self,
do not schedule many therapies for L next summer.
and even if you think it makes the most sense,
do not, i repeat, do not
schedule anything in the mornings.
especially if they fall earlier
than you typically have to be out of the house
during the school year.
the mornings of nothingness
are absolutely precious and lovely.

moments caught
like the photo below
were rare.
far too rare.

if you feel so inclined,
link up with a photograph
revealing your {im}perfections.

“Come now, let us settle the matter,”
says the Lord.
“Though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red as crimson,
they shall be like wool.
Isaiah 1:18
