my new motto.

this is my new motto.
it’s really, truly perfect
for where we are right now.
in this life.
in this messy, messy life.

are you ready for it?
here it goes…

if i stop smiling, i’m going to cry.

it’s the truth.
and i think it’s important
to keep smiling.
to keep counting the gifts
in the yuck and the muck.
because if we sit long enough
to really, really think about
the yuck and the muck,
we will cry.
we will all cry.

when i think i don’t have
anything more to give,
He says
keep giving
and He will meet me right where i run out.
if i just keep my eyes on Him.
and keep to the grid of what’s
really
important.
He will take over
right where i come up short.

i can pour out love.
i can always do that.
and sometimes that is all
that i need to do.
just pour out love.

i’m going to keep smiling.

My message and my preaching
were not with wise and persuasive words,
but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power,
so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom,
but on God’s power.
