this girl.

oh, this girl.
she has been making me cry lately.

like last week there were valentine treats
and cards strewn all over the kitchen table.

it was L’s snack time and he spotted a lolli.
he wanted the lolli and asked K
if he can have it
(in his own special way).

i explain to him that he needed to
have a snack first
and then
he could have the lolli.

he cries.
and it’s a combination of him being three
and him not understanding
the abstract concept of “later.”

he cries some more.
he is frustrated.
he feels misunderstood.

i decide to let him have just one cracker
and then the lolli.

K sweetly tries explaining to him
that he just needs to eat a cracker
with his milk.

he cries more
and points to his lolli.

she asks for one cracker.

she told L to watch her.
she put the cracker in her mouth and said “yum.”
he did the same.

now there were more tears.
not from him but from me.

Dear friends,
since God so loved us,
we also ought to love one another.
No one has ever seen God;
but if we love one another,
God lives in us
and his love is made complete in us.
