my irreplaceable nest.

i recently went to a friend’s house
for coffee with some close girlfriends.
tears were abounding
for sweet and sorrowful reasons
and it reminded me what a gift it is
to be able to be transparent with dear friends.

even as we rock and sway babies
that are ours
and that are theirs,
we share our hearts
and our stories
and encourage
and build up
and pull out
and pull up
and love abundantly
those in our lives.
those in our midst.

this big city that we live in
can be such a transient place.
it can be filled with surface-level conversations
and can so easily lack depth of hearts.
but i have found my little nest
amongst the hustle and the bustle.
and for that, i am forever grateful.
grateful for my irreplaceable nest,
that feels like home.

Therefore the Lord waits to be gracious to you,
and therefore he exalts himself to show mercy to you.
For the Lord is a God of justice;
blessed are all those who wait for him.
Isaiah 30:18
